Case Study: CEO Search for Global Fintech

Client:

Global Fintech

Role:

Divisional CEO

The Brief

To find a diverse CEO who could lead a large scale restructuring change and transformation program in order to significantly grow the business line, in addition to developing new products and markets.

Challenge

The external view of this business was that it had not grown at the expected rate over the last few years. Moreover, the share price was down after a relatively challenging few years of mergers and acquisitions. Lastly, the technology needed to be significantly developed both locally and for international use if this business line was to grow to its full potential.

Approach

Diversity was extremely important to this client in parallel to the skill set needed to significantly change this part of the business. We had to think about diversity in all senses of the word and provided a shortlist by thoroughly mapping direct competitors as well as progressive companies that the business aspired to be. We were rigorous in approach, referred to the ‘hard to reach’ candidates through our senior network and provided a compelling story as to why this business was interesting.

Result

A shortlist of 6 candidates was presented, all of whom were diverse in terms of gender, background, ethnicity and areas of the Fintech industry. This resulted in the Chief People Officer mentioning that this was the most diverse shortlist that she had ever seen and that she was extremely pleased with the results of the search.
