This February, we welcome David Willis, Innovex’s newest Delivery Lead.
David, who has over 12 years of experience within the Recruitment and Executive Search industries, will be working alongside Jake and Collette to deliver C-Suite, VP and Board-level searches for our clients.
We sat down with David to learn a bit more about him, starting the interview with the following question:
What would be the one piece of advice you would give to clients undertaking their first Executive Search? He answered…
“Starting out on the right foot is key. It is so important for all the stakeholders and those involved in the hiring to be on the same page on what they envision for the hire.
It’s important to get together and agree on everything that is required and expected from the role – partner closely with your Executive Search firm to do this, so they can ensure the process to find the right candidate is as efficient and effective as possible.”
We then went on to learn more about David and his Executive Search experience.
This is where we found out, David likes to challenge himself, and push the limits of what’s perceived as possible. From bike racing solo across Europe, to being a group ride leader 6 times on the Lands-End to Jon-O-Groats Charity Ride, he is someone, who both in his professional and personal life, makes an impact.
In his last role, David developed a retained project offering, focusing mainly on C-Suite and Leadership roles in IT for the Legal and Professional Service sectors.
During his time in professional services, David developed a real passion for the IT Executive Search world. He wanted to take a step to build further his skills and experience, which led him to enter the HR consultancy space.
Ever since, David has gone from strength to strength in his career and decided to take the next step to join Innovex.
When talking about why he wanted to move to Innovex David said:
“When I met Jake, it was clear he had built an organisation that had a vision and was on a mission to do some very good things in a very interesting space. There are many Recruitment and Executive Search firms out there, where the culture is all a wash rinse repeat, but at Innovex, there is a real sense of wanting to be a part of something that is going somewhere special.”
David went on to talk about the clear parallels between his skill set and the Innovex way, including his experience and ability to build a four-week shortlist and provide a bespoke service tailored to each client’s search requirements.
At university, David studied Anthropology – the study of people. Therefore, it is no surprise that his passion for Executive Search has come from the opportunity it provides to work with and learn about people.
Just as importantly, one of David’s biggest loves from Executive Search comes from the opportunity to work with transformative leaders, place them into organisations and watch them make a positive difference to the organisation and the people around them.
