THE INNOVEX CASE STUDY: CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER FOR CYBERSMART – A CYBERSECURITY FIRM DEDICATED TO SAFEGUARDING AND EMPOWERING MILLIONS OF SMBs WORLDWIDE.

Jonathan Wood | Chief Commercial Officer

Synopsis:

CyberSmart is a cybersecurity firm dedicated to safeguarding and empowering millions of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) worldwide. By leveraging a product-led strategy, the company offers extensive cyber risk management solutions designed specifically for SMBs.

Challenge:

In 2022 alone, CyberSmart’s revenue and customer base doubled. But, as far as they were concerned, they’re just getting started. The business goal is to help every small business get the protection they need. In order to accelerate this growth they decided to engage a Chief Commercial Officer.

Solution:

Initially looking for someone from a Channel Leadership background who could step up into their first CCO position, after interviewing the initial shortlist of candidates and taking candidates to final round, it was then decided that CyberSmart needed a more experienced CCO who had ‘done this before’ by scaling other companies past a Series C with capabilities in growing a global indirect sales organization.

The Chief Commercial Officer would accelerate profitable growth in the United Kingdom and eventually, further afield.

Outcome:

Innovex, with its notable client return rate of 97.2% and a success rate of 98.8%, was chosen by CyberSmart to lead the recruitment for their new Chief Commercial Officer. Jake Parish, CEO and founder of Innovex, personally engaged with all key stakeholders to align on the expectations for the role.

Following an initial briefing for the Head of Channel position, Jake successfully identified 140 candidates, achieving a 50% engagement rate. This highlights his effective reach and selective approach in identifying suitable candidates.

Jake personally met each engaged candidate, thoroughly assessing their fit against the job specifications. This meticulous process produced a longlist of candidates, which was then narrowed down to a shortlist through comprehensive interviews lasting 45 minutes to an hour each.

Initially, Jake presented seven strong candidates within the four-week deadline. However, due to an evolution in CyberSmart’s requirements for a more seasoned Chief Commercial Officer, the search parameters were expanded. Adapting swiftly, Jake identified an additional 75 candidates, achieving a remarkable 68% engagement rate.

Within just two more weeks, Jake provided a revised shortlist of six candidates, culminating in the hiring of Jonathan Wood, who fully met the enhanced criteria.

The Shareholders and the Executive Team at CyberSmart were not only impressed with the quality of the candidates but also commended the adaptability and rapid response demonstrated by Jake throughout the recruitment process.
